I think it makes sense to separate the events in their own section but some people have asked that I include the events back into the forum like they were before.

You can still post events just like you would on the old message board, however, now there is a more detailed form to fill out. This detailed form allows the content to get stored in a standard format, which allows the 'Events' section to be displayed the way that it is now.

Not only will duplicate content hurt the site from a Search Engine Optimization standpoint, it might be confusing for some people.
