TekandHaus with Jason Short/Kim Kong/Zenith 19 Feb 2010 @ Anu
Event Information
Do you like house & techno both? Do you hate being pinned down to a single genre in your get-down evening??? Come & Shake it down for FREE with local heavyweights:
Jason Shortt (Auralism Records/Karloff Recordings/Nightlight Music), Kim Kong (Non-fat/Bitches Get Stitches), and TekAndHaus resident Zenith (Funkentanzen/TekAndHaus).
About the artists:
Auralism Records's Jason Short is a San Francisco based techno producer/DJ whose sound is a blend of funk, groove, and motion within the context of precision sound design. His exciting live performances explore these boundaries further with a combination of laptops, midi controllers, drum machines, and mixers that play the tension of crystal clear mid-range harmonics against bass bin shredding low end. The results are clean, sultry and energetic. Short promises more hardware and effects as well as an eventual full length to further define this evolving sound. He is definitely one artist worth watching.
Kim Kong:
Born and raised in San Francisco, Kim is no stranger to all the music San Francisco has to offer. Spending most of her younger years listening to her mom's tunes, from oldies to jazz, she had always had the appetite for every type of music under the sun. Her love of electronic music spawned back in 1995 when she attended her first rave. Discovering a world of dancing until dawn and the culture that came with electronic music, she knew she found something special.
She began her journey playing small bars around the city, eventually landing a rotating residency at 1015 in the basement. Having been in the scene for many years and witnessing the inevitable transgression of all types of music, she began to acquire a specific taste for heavy basslines and techy grooves with a bit of bass and melody.
Every three months she joins forces with Braceface for a quarterly Tech & Groove monthly called Bitches Get Stitches. She also collaborates with DJ Nikita to make up non-fat, bringing out artists such as Mr. C, Adultnapper, Cassy & Derek Plaslaiko. Having been on a hiatus for a few years post 1015, she is back and ready to share her love for the music with you and the dancefloor.
Stephanie grew up immersed in music from an early age. Stephanie’s jazz-drummer father put her in front of a piano at age 6. Stephanie’s been involved in all types of musical pursuits from classical piano lessons, musicals, tenor saxophone, classical guitar, college-radio DJ, choreography/aerobics instruction, and DJing and music production.
Stephanie was lured to the San Francisco dance music scene from Washington, DC in 2002. Stephanie quickly developed a strong style that’s a fusion of house & techno: thumpy, minimal, and always accompanied by a provocative melody.
Stephanie formed Zenomena Productions in 2008 as a vehicle to fly in top talent and a mechanism to highlight the talented artists of the San Francisco bay area. Zenomena Productions throws a regular one-off party called Funkentanzen and a monthly called TekAndHaus. Funkentanzen began in the basement of Temple but now lives @ Paradise Lounge. Zenomena Productions is Stephanie’s personal investment in the music that has become her passion & obsession.
