This week: KILLSWITCH X2!
Extended hours til 2am!

About André Lucero:
A veteran of West Coast underground electronic music culture, André Lucero continues to reinvent himself. From breakdancing in the early 80's to his present studio efforts, he always kept his focus on beats and sounds of genres to come. Starting with the earliest electro hip-hop, passing through time and space to the present and future of electronic music, his selections are open minded but always have a dancefloor sensibility.
Not being satisfied with spoon feeding or accepting convenience, André has chosen the paths less traveled. Helping foster the rave scene in Santa Barbara; playing at the first mega-rave in the US (Raveamerica); releasing one of the first (if not THE first) underground electronic dance music mixed CD's (Fusion, Volume 1); his involvement with the seminal San Francisco techhouse event/DJ crew, Urban Development; to playing with international legends for Space Children, he has been recognized for decades as a stand alone talent who brings something special to the lineup. Sharing the decks with some of the heaviest hitters on the planet, he understands how to rock a crowd as well as to tell a story. No two sets from André are alike. Each moment drives the relevance of the music selection. Each moment is unique. The sound: warm, spacey, funky, soulful techno. Currently he is working on several projects in studio, including tracks with [KONTROL] resident Nikola Baytala.

About Jason Short:
Behind the gear shifts and subtle machinations of Auralism, you'll find longtime producer and DJ Jason Short. Whether bumping one of his famed extended after-hours solo sets, collaborating as one-half of Coalition of the Killing, or promoting new talent as Auralism's label manager, Short is fast becoming one of the major players behind San Francisco's rise as the new techno capital of the US. Growing up in his stepdad's music studio as a kid with a tendency towards pushing strange buttons, he became hooked on acid house and trance in 1997 when he broke into the Bay Area's notorious underground rave scene.
After moving to Florida in 1999, Short commandeered his first turntables and sampler, releasing jumpstarted tech-house—both solo as his alter-ego Sattva, and in conjunction with fellow producers Chris Havens and Marc Smith as Biogenesis—on labels Xplosion and Nepol. As a professional recording engineer, he has poked his fingers all over the musical map, serving for years as a consultant in studios throughout the country, rigging lighting and live sound for punk-rock gigs, and even producing an entire unreleased hip-hop album during a year-long stint in Chicago.
Now, however, he is committed to only one thing: creating an emotional, immersive sound that's completely his. Unfolding in unexpected ways, Short's time-stretching minimal-techno excursions creep into the psych from behind, whispering creaking, clattering tales that weave their way from the sweat-slicked warehouse to the twilit after-party to the inner sanctums beyond. "You know that sensation when a really powerful track comes on and everyone in the room seems to morph and float?" asks Short. "That's what I am going for! The goal is to create music that is meant to be heard and played, not just thought about."

DJ Christian Schmidt grew up in a small town in northern Norway. With about 500 people, there wasn’t much to do except listen to music and play in the dirt. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Kiss were kings. Times changed and Christian Schmidt had to move to the big and not so dangerous town of Oslo. One Sunday evening, the boy found himself in front of a radio listening to an underground radio program. The sounds he heard were magical and gave him a feeling he had never felt before. House music from labels such as Deconstruction and Strictly Rhythm and techno from the likes of R&S records and Harthouse made him realize he wanted to throw out the old and try something new. Nineteen years later the new is still his passion. Christian Schmidt is a part of Fiction, a San Francisco based promotion team, consisting of Andre Lucero, The Worker, and himself. Throughout his life, he has lived and performed in Oslo, Amsterdam and Chicago. These cities and the sounds they represent, are an integral part of him and continue to influence his sound today, both in his productions and his dj sets.

About Mossmoss:
Mossmoss brings a breath of fresh air to a club scene that is usually bent on taking itself too seriously. Scottish born, Mattie Bowen has been essential in the growth of techno and actively inspires audiences through art visually and aurally. His pursuits all deeply exude a level of class, compassion, and charisma. His own breed of minimal techno born from the bedrooms and studios of San Francisco offers a hint of a vast repertoire to come that inspires the mind and body simultaneously. Mossmoss was one of three artists featured on Race Car Productions Volume 1, their virgin effort. Since then he released an absolute powerhouse of a remix for Monocle's Dilleniidae which stole dancefloors the world over in 2007. With a wide open career in both art and music, and a new EP on Alland Byallo's NLMX net label, Mossmoss will become a household name."

^^ yeah, we're rollin in the dough now that we've got Svedka sponsorship. :-/
actually, we only get two free flier prints out of the deal... but since the flier $$ normally comes straight out of the Tim & David Foundation of Killswitch Arts, we decided give our pocket books a break for a two months....
You know what they say: "in this economy..."
always a blast doing KSX2!!! lets do it.

no offense but, IMHO Svedka cocktails shouldn't be sold for more than $5 in the first place.
that vodka's about on par with Smirnoff, and is the same crap Vessel gives out FREE every Thursday.
$5 happy hour "specials" = not impressive in the least.
so take that, SVEDKA!
and while we're on the topic, $2 domestic beers? who the fuck drink's Coors Light?
hey UndergroundSF... your drink specials SUCK!
how about a special on something people actually ENJOY drinking?
regardless, KS rocks and i'll be there getting boned on regular priced drinks like everyone else.

I think they have the cheapest drinks (even at regular price) than any place I go to, and you can actually taste the liquor in their mixed drinks. Only place I get smashed for $20 on a regular basis.
