Yeah Greg,
You and monica have put on some pounds. I am not sure if that is funny or just fucked up racist irony.
Just saying like I see it...

Are the djs going to be doing black face too?

^^^ OMG...racist!!!

now i see why they call you the kolonel, you cracker-ass. ;)

lighten up dog, it's all in good fun and plenty of white people like (and are) ghetto too.

plus, that picture's just funny, any way you slice it. :)

..well, i still had a chuckle...

I am not so sure about that, I work with and go to school with poor black folks and I am pretty sure they would say that shit ain't funny. That is probably somebodies mother. I know to take club culture with a grain of salt. But I generally expect respect.

well, this is how i roll...

Come on people....

NOW that's what I call racial stereotypes.

I know its all in fun, but its still a bit offensive. Images of Check Cashing Places, cars with rims, and black people are a bit derogatory...and a bit blackspoitatious in my opinion. I know none of you mean anything by it, but maybe you can see where im coming from.

http//www.myspace.com/djrazvan
http//www.myspace.com/blackmarkettechno

I do actually see where you're coming from......the thing is, when is the subject ever a cut-and-dry one? Like me playing an all-Mexican DJ lineup on the 5th (even tho I'm not full-blooded)- it used to really bug me when people would go all out with what they felt defined Mexican-American culture......the thing is, a lot of it applies. And the stuff that doesn't, while cartoonish and a bit ridiculous, is usually funny to me. Or the gay humor on a lot of these threads- how much of it comes from queer guys? To my knowledge, none or next-to-none, and that could offend me if I looked at it from that angle. But that would be silly.... I'm always amazed at how I'll find myself in discussions where I'll take people to task about racial stereotyping (although it's actually more of a classism thing) yet I'll go visit my hometown and hear my family (the Mexican half) saying much worse things about other Mexicans. At the same time, in another way, they embrace a lot of it. Funny- certain humor can bristle when it comes at us from somewhere/someone else (depending on who that is and the context), but somehow when it's the other way around, it's "oh whats the big deal, I was just...."

Food for thought... I don't think the dialogue is a bad thing, though.

On another note (and one more related to the music, which is the main reason I'm stoked for this event), I didn't actually realize until recently that DJ Godfather is white. Now THAT is an interesting spin on this topic. LOL

oh for fuck's sake. i give up. :(

no disrespect intended, and i sincerely apologize if anyone was offended by the images above.

the whole point of this party was to revel in and celebrate urban culture while having some fun with it, not to mock or ridicule any particular racial group.

i've been a huge fan of these styles of music for years, without a hint of condescending irony.

if we can't have an occasional laugh at life, ourselves, and yes, even sometimes others (GASP!), whether it be hillbillies, candy ravers, goths, gays, 'hood rats or anything else, then IMHO we're taking all this way too seriously.

image removed.

now that we're all properly bummed and "politically correct", let's all change our diaper and move on.

sheesh.

You people that take race cards so seriously suck! I mean, for fuck sake I'm Mexican. And I have a Mexican playing. And gay man. And polish guy. And a Jew. So what does this mean? Am I still not PC enough? Should I have a white guy playing to make sure every race is represented? Oh wait, I do. Mr. Marc Smith. If anyone else has anything to say about this, make sure to give me a ring on Cinco De Mayo and I'll make sure to remind you about how fucking racist you are! This is to celebrate music and the love of it that follows. That's it. If you take offense, do all of us a favor and DON'T go. Trust me, I won't be too bummed, because the people that DID come are their for the simple factor of the music. Go to a Quincera and see a bunch of my family members in Mexican hats and frilly dresses eating carne asada. It's the culture. It's the whole show of the party. It's what we love and are proud of. That's what we are trying to embrace. The love and culture of the style of music.

Listen, if we offended anyone, I AM sincerely apologetic. I was unaware of what was posted, but I stand 100% behind my partner in this event. I am sure he was not trying to offend anyone, but rather get people "juked" for the event. I understand the picture was taken down and if you have any other personal thoughts you would like to take up with me, please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. I am available 24/7. I would also like to inform you that there may be future events with the same genre of music as this in the future. If you need to bring up any concerns in the future, I am available to discuss your concerns. Until then...RAVE ON FRIENDS!~

So would the picture not have been "racist" if the women were white? That sounds racist to me.

those women are what i call ghetto and would be regardless of what color they are

um, isn't offensive the point of boootay house? I mean, have you ever listened to the lyrics in these songs?! heh...

bling - check
hoopty ride - check
booty- check

my favorite song is when they talk about goin' to the pawn shop to hock their VCR's so they can smoke some . then his moms takes a hit of that shit and now they're both smoking on the curb.

Me and Amanda are gonna go shake that shit to the left, and shake that shit to the right (get on the flo')

yea man thats a great video!

what drew me that sound was the rawness- from the lyrics to the actual beats. you wanna talk about minimal? holy shit, a lot of the stuff is like the ultimate in minimalism- once one gets used to the bpm (which can be daunting) its crazy how jacking and hypnotic a lot of it is

http//www.myspace.com/mozaicmusic

Actually the point of booty is to have a good time, and it both embraces fat women and sex. Ass and titties isn't about skinny betches.
The last party that I played booty at, well one of the last, this mexican family was at and the 2 preteen kids were singing along with "pop that ass" and "bitch don't cry when i come in your eye". I actually found it awkward and the parents where smoking some boo with me, and they didn't say a word about it.
I think basically by making fun of those women you are saying fat people are ghetto, not attractive and funny to look at.
I love booty and the sexploitation. But I don't need to get all down on people because they are freaks. We love the freaks right?
I am corrected the djs will not be wearing "black face", so all is good.

wow. interesting thread...

great video, makes me want to be back in the midwest a little. late 90's and mixtapes.
that was a good time.
