Nikola Baytala [3 hour set, 3 decks in the booth] - Kontrol, Bionic, Junior Boy's Own, Swat

One of San Francisco's true musical treasures, DJ/Producer Nikola Baytala has carved his own niche in the urban underground scene. With credentials that include 10 years of DJing experience, membership with the legendary KONTROL and BIONIC crews, a series of memorable releases as one half of S.W.A.T. with partner Rasoul, and regular high-profile DJ gigs all over the world, Nikola has cemented his status as an A-List artist with the kind of distinctive style that must be seen to be appreciated. He has an instinctive need to create and play music from the soul while retaining his true grit mentality. His skills go beyond impeccable mixing; what sets Nikola aside is his finesse for seemless programming, fusing the rarest techno grooves with legendary jack tracks, creating long, complex mixes for the dancefloor. When Nikola steps up to the decks, he's known for turning things up, keeping the room relentlessly vibrating with funky soul-inflicted beats, percussive house melodies, techy kicks, and mean basslines. Nikola is an underground legend here in San Francisco and his closing sets at virtually every underground event since the early 90’s earn him his reputation and leave the city buzzing!!

Tommy Lexxus - Bassism, CDR, Blipswitch

Tommy Lexxus been djing & producing for 14 years now. He helped establish the San Francisco Dubstep scene back in 2005, as well as sat on the float commission for the Bay Area Drum N Bass collective for Love Fest for the initial 2 years. Bassism Records is his international Dubstep label based in SF. With cutting edge beats and bass, from the heaviest wobbles to the deepest timbres and rub-a-dub vibes. The strength of the label is due in part to the plethora of widespead talent staged all over the globe. After 2 successful European tours, Tommy Lexxus has solidified a bright future for this imprint and is always ready to shake the walls with an arsenal of heavy dub bass. He has happily and humbly shared the stage domestically and abroad with Scuba, Headhunter, Tes La Rok, Skream, Vex'd and N-Type just to name a few. Come Selecta!!

Really excited for this. I think it will be Nikola's first "official" performance at 222, and under very special circumstances.

All I can say is...

Nikola Baytala
+ 3 hours
+ 3 available turntables
+ 222's amazing sound system
+ an intimate venue
= easily going to be my favorite event of 2010 so far.

Tommy will also be coming back from a 3 week zeitgeist tour of Eastern Europe and a bag full of dubs, so that will be tight. I'll probably warm things up with some dub techno business.

Come be a part of the quickly-growing DEEPER community and see one of SF's most talented musicians throw down.

Free entrance from 9-10. Drinky, drinky time.... :)

No doubt that Nikola killed it last night at the Blue Collar 5 yr (as usual). Didn't make it myself, but can say that the events at Red Sky and Nightlight/222 were going off!

If you enjoyed Nik's set last night, DO NOT MISS his special appearance at DEEPER/222 in two Fridays (February 5th). Seriously, give that guy three hours, three available turntables, and the 222 sound system... lord knows what he can do. Most likely, as with our other special guests at DEEPER, Nikola will be exploring different musical areas that we may be unaccustomed to hearing from him. Given the night's eclectic musical format, our guests have always pushed the envelope and brought out some serious surprises for their fans. Nik can bend the genre-map wherever he feels like going... with style and ease. Tommy Lexxus and I will set the foundation, so get there early. We start at 9!

Expect the best!!
