A while ago I was looking for a granular synth and came across this one.

I probably won't be using this vst as its a bit clunky and challenging to tweak and use but there is still some coolness to it.

Honestly, I was looking for a maelstrom replacement... but couldn't find it... i then recently upgraded my reason which i'm really enjoying because of all the signal routing. and i missed my maelstrom because grain synthesis is great for generating new unexpected sounds. :)

oh... and here is a little one minute demo i made with it. :)

As for Grain...I liked the glitchy efx. Synthwise, it wasn't doing it for me. Synths are so personal though. You really have to start tweaking to find the sounds that you prefer.

Not to change the topic but how do you like Microtoniq?

yup... i totally agree... which is why i no longer use grainz. :)

Microtoniq is sick. I love how simple it is to tune drums to key and the envelopes are super simple to understand. Then at the same time its extremely limiting because of the simplicity.

I don't use the internal sequencer on it because i prefer to grill out the notes in live. But it works much like the redrum or any other pattern sequencer.

highly recommended.

I've used waldorf attack and thats nice too. But its much harder to get sick sounds out of it and the interface isn't as intuitive.

Another option too is just to build drums with the ableton fm synth, operator. Or really any other synthesizer... Which could give the the same controls as these, just depends on how you build and design your patches.

Going back to microtonic... favorite thing is really that you can dial in your notes/frequencies because it displays both at the same time and steps both filters and oscillators in key. Its really feels like a natural method to create drum sounds.
