glitching and snare modification.

looking for technics to glitch and modify a snare sample.
i'm using ableton, anybody have any recommendations? tutorials? mm... i want to do stuff like yo ucan do on the machinedrum. :D
I've found that you can get a good glitchy effect from stretching or constricting the "warp size" in ableton. I don't know what it's actually called, but..
In the sample editor window that runs along the bottom of the screen when you have a piece of audio selected, look under the "Warp" on/off button. You should see two little buttons side-by-side.
I think they say 2** and 2A* or something like that. You should be able to find what I'm talking about.
By clicking on these a few times you can drastically slow down and speed up the rate at which ableton moves between warp points.
I think that's how it works. Anyway, it at least gives you some glitch in the sound.

i think i know what you might be trying to do. Try using a delay, then automating the delay time, feedback, and parameters to make it "glitch"
Start with a really, really short delay time, and with the "mix" on the delay @ 0% or "dry". Fade the wet/dry mix up so you can hear the delay, then slowly move the delay time back. Then you can automate the feedback to become longer and shorter. the delay doesn't have to be "in time" to creat the sound you are looking for. Just make a few passes on the automation til you like the way it sounds when you play it back, then you can fix and edit the automation to make it perfect...

Tight Jason... Which delay are you talking about? the psp42? The ableton one has artifacts if you adjust the delay time while playing.
or are you just suggesting to adjust feedback and the mix?

what kind of sample modification does that have? I've heard your cuts with you and kenneth... they are disgusting.

i use drumatic. a good drum machine or vst drum machine will do you right. just have to automate the sustain, decay and whatnot. just like a regular ADSR vst synth, but makin fancy drum noises. Drumatic is a good, cheap, little drum machine. simple, but makes some nice noises.

how about actually glitching shit out. send more midi notes at your sampler/synth than it can handle. change patches in the middle of the hit.
i dont know about other software, but reason is full of glitching possibilities.
