assist! my MPC is acting all shitty

anybody have/ever had an mpc? (specifically of the newer variety like mpc1k-2500?) have you ever had it lock up on you if so how did you unlock it? i turned on my mpc 1000 today and it was stuck in record and acting all crazy. when i lifted it up i noticed the thing was pretty hot underneath. i'm letting it chill out in front of my ac unit hoping this will fix the issue. if it doesn't, i think the unit is possibly either fried from the excessive heat in recent weeks (it's been a 100 degrees plus in here.. no insulation) or needs a new OS upgrade. if its the OS, i should probably hit up the JJos that people are in love with anyway.

long live the mpc.

but I know nothing about them. I am a microwave.

I hope you can fix soon.

Had one of these for a long time a while ago. Had it lock up from time to time with the orig os. If you are using the 1.0 os there was tons of bugs and it was really limited. Just power it off and back on.

DEF use the jjos. Its worth the $35 or whatever he charges as it totally transforms your mpc. I would rather have a 1k with jjos than one of the bigger more aspensive ones.

perl -e '$/=q|}"6ft.(&^)+@?@7$eJp.|,$"=eval$/,@/=split//,$/.$@,$/=0;while($/<26){$_.=$/[ord($/[++$/])-7]}print'

hopefully the little bastard is still under warranty. i keep powering it up occasionally and saying a voodoo chant, dancing around it with cigars and feathers.. just hoping th rec button becomes unstuck. but so far that hasn't done much for it. go figure right?

and for future users and readers of this post, the best way to reset your MPC is to turn the power on while holding erase.

and service for the west coast is:

VST Service in Pasadena, CA - 626-794-8196

i'm going to give them a call and see what i can do.
