yeah really... NI and Ableton are somewhat competitors tho, as both develop soft synths/samplers and plugins. I think Ni lost the DJ software/hardware battle too. (i owned both serato and final scratch, and final scratch was terrible.)

the final scratch thing was because of stanton, not NI
the audio 8 interface is excellent

ableton sounds flat. NI sounds fat. serato is wonky, traktor is fonky. JMHO

i've had friends on both sides of the camp on this and from my experience with talking with them is that ableton is just really good for fucking with sound and reason is good for making instruments and sounds to put into it. ableton backing serato seems like a step in the wrong direction since its been proven that the timing and idiosyncracies of the time code in traktor sounds more like djing. it would be interesting to see what ableton does with the serato platform however. let's keep the thread alive if anyone has an update.

sean.

side note..
i am sick of software companies battling for djing. can we just decide on a platform and stick to it already. like the technics 1200 arguably the best and industry standard why isn't there an industry standard so i can just plug in my USB cable or thumb drive and f'n play already? maybe there needs to be a symposium like there was with MIDI... who knows?
