Blipswitch: a great site that was pretty much ruined for no good reason.
Sean, I'm sure you're sick of hearing this by now, but I'm so frustrated and downright depressed that this board has been effectively ruined by taking something that was functional and well-liked and replacing it with a buggy, clunky site that most people seem to hate.
here's what I personally hate:
- events forum separated from rest of forums.
- lame long-ass form to fill out to post a simple event where you used to be able to just drop a jpg and be done.
- hard to tell when new content arrives. yes, its there, but it's way less visible and easy to note than it used to be.
- in an attempt to end "bump wars" (which no one even was complaining about or abusing) the natural way of posts appearing and reappearing has been destroyed.
- format of forum posts sucks. columns too wide to be readable. avatars are tiny. everything is stacked.
- flyers in the events forum all get resized and end up looking shitty. why?
- clicking on flyer to view fullsize just presents you with another bug, not the flyer.
- CAN'T DELETE YOUR OWN POSTINGS?!?
- i used to be the events moderator and now i can't even edit/correct ANY postings, including my own.
- no tools to help with formatting in compose message window. no smileys.
- compose message window is super glitchy, text disappears and moves around in weird unexpected ways.
i am not by nature a whiner. and i do appreciate the energy you've put into this Sean, but it seems things have fallen to shit around here and now you're too busy to even give attention to the project you've worked so hard on and many of us have become attached to.
are you listening, man? this site re-design has major problems! does the fact that traffic has dropped like 75% say anything to you? people have offered tons of suggestions and almost none have been changed or implemented.
can we just go back to the old site? or at least fix this one? i hardly ever even visit this one anymore.

i'm with greg 100% on this. i hate complaining, especially when someone volunteers so much time and effort (and probably money as well) into something like this while asking for nothing in return. i appreciate the effort greatly, but the result is not very user friendly. even if all the bugs were fixed, the classical discussion forum format is tried and true, and you had it right the first time. this new format just seems so cold, empty and impersonal. large avatars, lots of smilies, custom user texts, thread bumpage, tables with columns, these are all positives! bring them back please! i would love it if the old forum was reimplemented with darker bgcolors. bright on bright skins are harsh on the eyes :\

I'm with Greg... What was wrong with the old site? It took off and was running great, and we all grew to know and love it. The fact that the traffic has disappeared is proof that whatever changes, while well intended, did more harm than good. The reason Blipswitch worked so well and was so popular as a messageboard was because it was simply that: a messageboard.
Is there NO chance you can just reload the backup of the old site? I feel like I've been dumped and I'm dating a supposedly cooler girlfriend who may look hot, but when it comes down to it, she just can't fuck worth a shit and she's a bitch...

Sorry guys. I'm working these issues. I've got some help with development now, so hopefully I can dedicate some more time for this...
I've been super busy with WORK so unfortunately, I haven't been able to dedicate time to development. Blipswitch is UNPAID work. I have devoted countless hours to creating the old site, and working on the new one, but recently I haven't been able to get around to fixing bugs and redoing the events forum.
All of your complaints and suggestions are on my bug list. Keep adding new ones when you find them, I would appreciate that since I obviously don't have time to browse the site anymore. Just cut me a little slack here...
Any chance we could just go back to the old site? It worked well enough for me. And yes, I miss the post-event reviews as well.

I am hoping for this site to return to the post death lovefest and snarkfest that I loved being a part of, I used to be really excited to look here for smut ah party stuff.
