Why I love our weather...

Well... we should be having lots of rain in January, and it's kind of worrisome that we're not. But I have been loving this warm weather! I wasn't even wearing a jacket outside last night!

I love, love, love it too, but damn, it is worrisome... Even if we had normal rainfall this year we're still gonna be in a drought. Some people say water is going to be the next oil in terms of shortages and what price swings will do to our economy... :(

i am enjoying it!!!.. i was so over all that coldness.

lol at the supporting AP Photo in this article:

http://cbs5.com/local/winter.heat.wave.2.907518.html

"so you want me to take a picture of the sun?!"

"yes"

"just the sun?"

"yes"

"what would the supporting caption be?"

"im thinking... 'The Sun Beams Down.'"

"..."

guess I thought this was kind of normal for this area...

guess I was wrong too, eh?

Ha! Welcome to Ohio, biatch!

For an interesting read and a dystopian look at a future California where water is heavily rationed and controlled by Christian fundamentalist-militarists (yet, of course, the wealthy in L.A. have swimming pools), check out Starhawk's novel "The Fifth Sacred Thing," written sometime in the '80s, I think. Of course, in San Francisco, everyone collects rainwater and manages, somehow. The novel's a little preachy about nonviolence, but it's still pretty good, if you can handle the pagan direct action politics.

Oh wait, we were talking about the weather...

:D

It's so funny driving around l.a. and there are signs scolding people not to take so many showers, yet everyone's watering their lawns.

i've been swimming these nights. it's very pretty to be swimming and staring at the sky.

"...Minneapolis, Minnesota, posted a reading of 19 below zero..."

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/weather/01/14/winter.storms/index.html?iref=m...

if anyone ever wants to know why i'll NEVER move back, please reference the above quotation.

think about it people. the difference between 32 degrees and -19 is 51 degrees.

imagine a balmy day of 83 degrees. pretty warm out, huh?

now suddenly drop the temperature 51 degrees. bam, it's COLD. real cold. so cold that water will turn to ice.

but wait, folks. now take that same 51 degree difference, start at "freezing", and drop it that amount AGAIN.

THAT'S how cold it is in Minneapolis.

never again.

Looks like some rain may be coming the last week in January. Good news.
