Welcome, Stephan Bodzin!

“Authenticity is everything - without it everything would appear to be nothing more than a hollow shell”, says someone who has found himself at the centre of the international techno scene since
2006. Stephan Bodzin: the passionate musician from Bremen has become a heavy influence for a lot of producers worldwide. With his album “Liebe ist…” (’Love is…’) Stephan Bodzin has reached yet another high point in his career.

As the son of an experimental musician his musicaljourney was set from an early age; it was only a matter of time before Stephan would fall in love with electronic music. While he composed music for several prestigious European theaters, he discovered his passion for club sounds. His talent was soon discovered and producers such as Oliver Huntemann, Thomas Schumacher and Marc Romboy queued up to work with Stephan.

Due to the unique character of his music, he has established himself as an icon of the international techno scene. Most recently he has remixed songs for well-known bands such as Depeche Mode, Booka Shade and The Knife. His releases can be found on labels such as Get Physical, Datapunk, Gigolo, Systematic and Giant Wheel.

Stephan describes himself as a “melody man” - “after all, it’s the melodies that endure”, he says. The responses to his productions seem to confirm this, as his organic analogue and spontaneous sound is loved in clubs worldwide (DJ Hell himself has dubbed his style as the “Bremen sound”).

After having gained experience with the infamous series Rekorder, which he runs together with Oliver Huntemann and Jan Langer, it was a logical move for Stephan to create his own label which he called Herzblut in 2006. As part of the label-conglomerate Plantage 13, he has found the ideal creative structure for his work within this structure.
“This was a massive step forward”, he explains, “I produce music to share it, and I can experience this great feeling in each of my gigs”.
Stephan’s music is as polarizing as he is, both as a DJ and live artist. “Authenticity is everything…”

Watch out for Stephan’s release “Bremen-Ost”, out NOW on Herzblut!

Welcome, Rodriguez Junior!

Not many electronic music producers manage to release award-winning albums, sell shedloads of 12′’s and perform the world over before they hit the big 3-0. Brussels-based French-Spaniard Rodriguez Junior - aka Olivier M - has done exactly that. As a half of French electro act The Youngsters he’s already packed more into his time in the industry than some do over their whole career - and he’s still just 29.

Over the past six years he and his partner in crime have released loads of EPs and remixed tracks of dozens artists.
Their two studios albums - like their singles, released on Laurent Garnier’s label F-Com - won a string of awards and accolades from some of dance music’s biggest names. This success catapaulted them onto the international circuit, giving them the platform to take their electrifying live act to some of the biggest club stages and festivals in Europe, South America and Asia, performing with artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack.

Now living and working in the Belgian capital Brussels, Olivier’s Rodriguez project is the product of an almost schizophrenic brand of creativity, and a thirst for the new and unexpected.
Going solo offers something valuable to him: the freedom to experiment, step off the release / gig / release merry-go-round, and break out of the musical “mind-ghetto” that so many great acts end up slipping into.
The Rodriguez alter-ego represents his own productive journey of re-discovery and is getting more and more successful, with releases already lined up on labels like Leena, Giant Wheel and Boxer.
Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk or Michel Polnareff, Oliviers’ spirit of adventure translates into music that can’t easily be pigeon-holed.
While his music is all electronic, and put together largely in his own MLab Mk5 studio in Brussels, his music can be leftfield and experimental or rich, melodic and poppy - depending on his mood. Musical freedom is Oliviers motto… we at the Berlin Kreuzberg Institut are looking forward to hear this motto translate into new tracks - coming soon from Oliviers’ studio in Brussels.

Watch out for the new Rodriguez Junior single “Pina Colada”, out in AUGUST on Mothership:

Wow, didn't expect to here a Kaskade vocal in there. :)

Great mix overall. Stephan Bodzin is one of my favorite producers.
